How Your Smart Home Assistant Can Help Keep Your House Clean

SMART HOME CLEANING

If you’re looking for some new ways to keep your house clean, have you thought about enlisting a smart home assistant for some help?

Believe it or not, they can do so much more than answer questions, dim the lights and tell you jokes. No, they won’t actually clean for you. They can, however, help set you up for cleaning success (and a sparkling clean home!).

Here are 3 ways that use you can use your Google Home or Alexa for house cleaning.

Help You Order New Cleaning Products

Why go to the store to buy new cleaning products when you could have them delivered to your house? Better yet, why order them on your phone or computer when you can do it all through voice shopping?

Never run out of your favourite household cleaning products with your smart home assistant’s help. When you notice you’re running low, simply ask it to order more, instead of telling yourself “you’ll do it later” and end up shorthanded when it’s time to clean.

Don’t forget to ask for Alexa or Google’s help in finding the right cleaning products. The last thing you need is something that could damage your hardwood floors, isn’t safe for the kids or comes in a bottle that’s way too big.

Remind You of Your Cleaning Schedule

Do you always forget to take the garbage out to the curb? Forget to scrub the shower before you can see the dirt from ten feet away?

A cleaning schedule is a great way to stay on top of household cleaning and make it less overwhelming. Whether you ask your smart home assistant to give reminders itself or you use it with a cleaning schedule app, Google and Alexa can give you the nudge you need to keep things sparkling clean.

While you’re at it, why not ask it to play some music while you scrub the floors?

Schedule and Control Your Robot Vacuum

While we did say your smart home assistant can’t actually clean your house for you (yet?), they come pretty close. With robot vacuums like iRobot and Roomba, you can schedule, control and keep track of the vacuum all through Alexa or Google.

“Alexa, ask Roomba where it is.”

“Ok Google, stop vacuuming.

“Alexa, ask Roomba to schedule a cleaning job on Monday at 11 am.”

We’re not quite at flying cars yet, but the future is definitely here with voice-controlled robot vacuums. If you want to get really advanced, you can set up a map of your house and tell the vacuum which specific room you want to be cleaned!

The future is here, so you might as well embrace it and use your smart home assistant to help keep your house clean! The reality is that they can only do so much - you also need the right cleaning products to finish the task.
